Thor: Love and Thunder
Summary
Thor : Love and Thunder ’s adjustment of Gorr the God Butcher proved divisive , and new prescribed concept art give away that Christian Bale’sMCUvillain almost looked much different . erotic love and Thunder ’s interpretation of Gorr is a far cry from the Marvel Comics quality of the same name , keep back the same backstory but take a shit his goals , actions , and visual aim almost recognisable . That is n’t to say that Gorr look bad - on the reverse , the more human appearance allowed acclaimed actor Christian Bale to emote far more than he in all probability would have with the source material ’s more snakelike face .
Other idle concept art designs for Gorrhave surfaced sinceLove and Thunder ’s button , but artist Aleksi Briclot - a frequent collaborationist with Marvel Studios - has reveal a new and peculiarly telling look for the villain onInstagram . See the full double below :
One immediate remainder is that this design pays homage to Gorr ’s Marvel Comics designing by adding two tendrils coming down from the head ( while still restrain the human face intact ) . Another interesting homage to the root material sees Gorr donning clean struggle armor that mimics natural anatomy . In the comedian , Gorr wear only his bleak hooded mantle and a small undergarment . This armor touch to that while also armoring up the villain for his fights against the graven image .

Gorr , The God Butcher is one of Thor ’s most notoriously grievous villain in the funnies , but does the same hold true for his MCU counterpart ?
Why Gorr Looks So Different In The MCU And Marvel Comics
It ’s not uncommon for the MCU to importantly castrate the look of heroes and scoundrel as they transition from the page to the projection screen , but few are as striking as Gorr . In Marvel Comics , Gorr looks doubtlessly foreign . He has no olfactory organ and a wider mouth , and two tendril hang down from the sides of his head . His body is mostly humanoid , but he also sports animalistic claws that make him calculate distinctively different . In the MCU , Gorr looks like human with lily-white skin and tattoo / scars .
The MCU ’s " villain problem " looks like a thing of the past as Phase Four has brought memorable baddies like Namor , Agatha , and the Scarlet Witch .
While the reason for Gorr ’s final look will likely never be bed for sure , it in all likelihood comes down to derogate a potentially all-encompassing war paint process and helping the baddie occur off as more sympathetic . WhileBale may have been underutilized in the MCU , he delivered a grotesque performance that may have been hindered by significant prosthetics . Given the baddie ’s eventual repurchase , the studio apartment may also have require him to appear more human and relatable . Either manner , Thor : Love and Thunderhas its take , but Gorr ’s last design ultimately is n’t one of them .
